The Infamous kick 2

Yesterday we witnessed football at its worst. 80 minutes into a league cup semi-final and the unthinkable happened ... again. After Cantona's kick (and its resulting punishment), I never thought I would see anything like it again. However yesterday, on one of the biggest stages of all, an international footballing superstar kicked a ball boy. Yes, you could argue he was time wasting, but then it's the referee's job to deal with it, it is not for the players to take matters into their own hands. That is why I feel that Hazard should receive a long ban and a large fine, he should never, regardless of the stuation, assault a ball boy!

  1. Whilst i think that what Hazard did was unacceptable... I think the ball boys reaction epitomises what is wrong about the game... this boy watching football thinks it is acceptable to over-exaggerate his reaction... Diving needs to stop - we cant have the next generation think diving is acceptable

  2. Yes, only referees should be allowed to kick ball boys.

You haven't stated once that KICKING ANOTHER PERSON randomly is a BAD thing. You should maybe do that.

Eli: i agree that what the ball boy did was disgraceful but i feel we shouldn't have even been in a situation where he could be provoked to feign injury
Dvorah: I apologise for not having complete clarity and yes i do feel it is disgraceful for anyone to kick anyone randomly.

  4. I have heard people say that he was lost in the heat of the moment and he should not be blamed. I think that he is paid to play in the heat of the moment and if he can't control himself he shouldn't be allowed on the pitch. There is no excuse for kicking whatever the provocation. Miriam

  5. I think the ball boy should also be punished. After all his job is to return the ball in a timely fashion not provoke the players.
